Deputy Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi met with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet today afternoon at the Office of the Prime Minister. During the meeting, which was also attended by Deborah Lines, the UN Special Representative for Afghanistan, she expressed her views on the human rights situation in Afghanistan.
Michelle Bachelet welcomed the reopening of educational institutions for girls and assured full cooperation with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in establishing a comprehensive mechanism for the protection of human rights.
Deputy Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi welcomed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and her accompanying delegation to Afghanistan, and said 43 years of conflict has affected all, but especially women and we pay serious attention to education, economic, health, and all other sectors to improve the lives of Afghans.
Deputy Prime Minister said, "Our policy is that we do not allow any group or individual to threaten anyone's security from the Afghan territory and all those foreigners who want to live in Afghanistan, must live according to the refugee laws." He added, “The US sanctions on Afghanistan's assets are a clear violation of human rights and must end as soon as possible,".
